Happy Valentine's Day

This being Austin's first year of preschool, it was also the first Valentine's Day that he actually exchanged valentines with other kids. Austin and I went to the Target and looked at all of our valentine giving options but were not excited about it. I really wanted something he could help create, and since he can't write his own name, store bought valentines were out. So, I resorted to online research and was thrilled when I found an idea to make heart shaped crayons. Austin had a great time peeling the paper off the crayons, breaking them up and deciding which colored crayons went together to make the prettiest heart. These were super easy and I think they turned out great.

The First Summer Dress

This week I also made Anna the first of what I believe will be many dresses for this summer. I came across a few patterns while cleaning the craft room the other day, and became inspired to use them. I know it's not summer yet, but i figured I'd get a jump start. It was a little cold to get a nice picture of Anna wearing her new dress, so this will have to do for now. I'll post another picture with her wearing it at a later date.

My Cup Cozy

I have recently been converted to a "tea-drinker" by my mother-in-law. I have always enjoyed a cup of coffee in the morning, but until recently have had no idea how absolutely wonderful a cup of tea can be, any time of day. Now, the kids can be screaming in the back seat of the car, my anxiety level near the boiling point, and after that first sip of tea I can instantly feel my body relax...and if I try real hard it's almost as if I can't hear the kids at all (just kidding).

However, I have encountered one problem with being a tea-drinker. When visiting any local Starbucks, the paper cup is way too hot. Even if they double-cup it or give me a sleeve I still find it unbearable. So, this week I made myself my own personal cup cozy. Being made of two pieces of fabric with quilted batting inside, it really does the trick...not to mention it makes my cup pretty.
